Born and raised in the desert foothills of El Cerro, New Mexico, Zachary left his bucolic southwestern home in 2007 for the concrete chaos of New York City to study liberal arts at The New School. After receiving a call to ministry, Zachary moved uptown to attend Union Theological Seminary to study for a Master’s of Divinity in preaching and worship, supplemented by a Master’s of Sacred Theology in New Testament studies to augment his explorations into preaching and worship.
Zachary has actively applied his vision and inspiration to transform and renew worship in his professional life, whether as the leader of the intergenerational worship band at St. Lydia’s Waffle Church, the Sunday School coordinator at Advent Lutheran Church, or founding Church for People, an experimental, all-ages, all-inclusive worship space.
Now, as the part-time Minister of Word and Sacrament at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Zachary presides over bilingual Sunday worship services, and continues to cultivate intergenerational opportunities for the neighborhood’s vibrant and dynamic communities, both old and new, grounded in Gospel faith, teaching, and healing.
